Editorial Policies

Editorial Policies

The SCID Journal of Artificial Intelligence (SJAI) strives to maintain the best practice in scholarly publishing. The editorial policies implemented in the journal promote transparency, ensure fairness, and guarantee integrity in the publication process in line with the international standards (e.g., COPE, DOAJ, and ICMJE).

Editorial Independence

All editorial decisions at SJAI are made independently, based solely on scholarly merit, originality, relevance to the field of artificial intelligence, and the quality of research. The editorial team does not consider authors' affiliations, nationalities, or personal characteristics.

Peer Review Policy

SJAI follows a double-blind peer review model:

  • Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous.
  • Manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment.
  • Submissions deemed suitable are sent to at least two independent reviewers.
  • The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned section editor makes the final decision based on reviewers’ feedback.

Open Access Policy

SJAI is an open-access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication. Authors retain copyright under a Creative Commons Attribution License CC BY 4.0, allowing for free distribution with proper attribution.

Plagiarism and Similarity Check

All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software called Turnitin.

  • Manuscripts with significant similarity (usually above 15%, excluding references) are returned to authors or rejected outright.
  • Cases of plagiarism or unethical reuse of text are dealt with strictly, and may lead to retraction or blacklisting.

Authorship Criteria

Only individuals who made substantial contributions to the research, writing, and approval of the manuscript should be listed as authors. SJAI discourages:

  • Gift authorship (including non-contributing individuals)
  • Ghostwriting (excluding contributing authors)

All listed authors must approve the final version, agree to its submission and accept accountability for all aspects of the work

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that might influence the research or peer review process.

Data Availability and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to share datasets, source code, or experimental protocols in publicly accessible repositories. This enhances transparency and reproducibility in AI research.

Corrections and Retractions

SJAI will issue the following in compliance with COPE recommendations.

  • Corrections for minor errors that do not affect the conclusions
  • Retractions for articles containing serious issues such as fabrication, falsification, or ethical breaches
  • Expressions of concern if investigations are ongoing

Ethical Oversight

SJAI adheres to strict ethical guidelines. Authors must follow ethical practices for studies involving human or animal subjects (e.g., IRB or institutional approvals). Ethical violations are investigated by the editorial board in line with COPE procedures.

Handling of Misconduct

Research and publication misconduct such as plagiarism, data manipulation, undisclosed conflicts and duplicate publication are taken seriously and may lead to manuscript rejection, retraction, and reporting to relevant institutions.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions with a detailed rebuttal. Complaints regarding the editorial process or reviewer conduct will be fairly investigated by the SJAI Ethics Committee.
